What a wonderful week!

Brad had a week off for vacation last week, and after much debating on what we should do we decided to spend time in Lake Charles with our familly AND take a mini trip just the two of us. We headed to Lake Charles for a couple of nights, and then Brad and I left for New Orleans for 3 nights while our parents kept Jack for us. It was so great to be back in the city we love so much. We ate and ate and ate! One day we ate at Commander's Palace where I had the best bread pudding souflee I've ever had! Then another night we ate at Muriel's which I have to say was fantastic! We also hit up all of our neighborhood favorites too! Other than eating we just hung out...we went to the bookstore and coffeeshop which are two of our favorite things to do. We still make a point to still do them, but I have to say its much more relaxing for me when I can just sit in a big comfy chair with a few books and magazines and read rather than chase a little munchkin around :) We also spent a lot of time hanging out in the French Quarter making sure to enjoy my oh so favorite beignets and coffee...mmmmm. It was so nice to just relax and be with Brad. I do have to say that I missed Jack ALOT. I was very happy to get away and just as happy to get back to him!

When we got back to Lake Charles it was time to start thinking about Halloween! Jack dressed up like a cowboy, and I just know he was the cutest cowboy around! We've been reading Halloween books and we even practiced trick or treating so he was completely ready for the big night. He absolutely LOVED it! He understood what to do too! It was so cute watching him walk up and hold his bucket up for people to put treats in it, then he would look inside to see what he got..so precious! (*most of my good pics are on my mom's camera so there will be more pics to come)
Trunk or Treat with cousin Marianna!

Oh did these babies love suckers!!!

Brad wearing Jack's hat because Jack wouldn't keep it on!

Playing basketball...have I mentioned before that Jack LOVES LOVES balls. He throws them overhand and pretty far!

Advice mommies?

So as most of you know baby #2 is on the way! I have a dilemma right now though. The big question is...to buy a 2nd crib or to not buy a 2nd crib???

When baby #2 arrives Jack will be 22 months. He turns two in July, and we are due in April.

Should I get a 2nd crib, or try to move Jack to a big boy bed?

I could try and keep the new baby in the port a crib for a few months, but by the time he/she is 3 months I like to make the switch and put them in their own rooms, so Jack would have to switch to a big boy bed at 2 years old.

Will he be too young? What do ya'll think?

Also...if this baby is a girl...I'm REALLY going to want to have a girl nursery all decorated and ready :) If its a boy, then Jack's nursery would just stay the same and he'd move out to a big boy room.

Pumpkin Patch

Last week we took Jack to a pumpkin patch, but it wasn't the mac daddy pumpkin patch we'll be taking him to this weekend. This one was actually free for active duty military last weekend, so we decided to take advantage of it and get out of the house. Anyways, Jack had fun and so did we!
Jack and Brad ate waaayyy too much kettle corn!
This is what Jack loved doing the most....walking around with that stick digging in the dirt...110% boy!

Pumpkins!

I feel like I can probably make any kind of cake you have in mind...the possibilities are endless! I'm also willing to coordinate my trips home to do cakes for customers in the Lake Charles area, so help me get the word out! Today I did a cake for a baby shower....go check out on my blog http://cakebakes.blogspot.com to see more! I've added the link to blogs I watch so you can access it from there too!

Parks are the best!

I spent most of my afternoons when I was little either riding bikes with my family or playing at a park. Since those memories are so dear to me...I wanted to make sure we do the same with Jack as often as possible, so recently we took Jack to the Brackenridge Park in San Antonio. I have to say Jack had a blast! We packed snacks & plenty of bread to feed the ducks! This park also has a train ride which he enjoyed with some popcorn as well! It was a really fun day, and Jack was pooped by the time we got to the car!
Getting ready for the train to go!

a little scare...

Last week we had a dating ultrasound...which now puts me at 12 weeks pregnant(a little further along than I had thought). The ultrasound was going fine, but then the ultrasound tech left the room to return to say she thought the nuchal translucency(fluid behind the neck that can detect down syndrome, heart defects, etc.) looked a little thickened, so they were going to refer me to Maternal Fetal Medicine for some more measurements, but they wouldn't be able to see me for another week.....lovely now I get to worry about whether my baby has Downs for a week is all I could think about! Ofcourse my heart sank...then I felt a little pissed off inside b/c why was this happening to me????...then Brad said he'd look it all up when we got home so I started to feel better, and then when he actually did look it up and research it I really started to feel better b/c my baby's NT didn't look abnormal at all. I still had to wait a week though to really find out, and I have to say its been pretty tough. I've done a lot of praying, and although our first goal is to bring a healthy baby into the world...I started to find peace in the possibility of having a child with a disability. After all every baby is a gift from GOD, and as for Brad and I...having this baby and giving it the best life in the world was our only option. So at this point I know all of you are freaking out...so I'll get to the point.

EVERYTHING IS FINE! The doctor said our baby looks completely healthy, and basically we don't really have anything to worry about!

And...for everyone who is wondering why the heck I didn't tell them about this last week...well I didn't want you to worry too, and we really wanted to know for sure before we started sharing the news with everyone. Nothing personal I love all of you!

Life is Good!

Things have gotten ALOT better lately! As most of you know I made it back home, and started putting my house back together after weeks of being gone or just being too sick to do anything. Life feels normal again...We are so happy to be back with Brad & our normal routine. I've been feeling alot better, which is sooner than I started to feel better with Jack so I'm very excited! We've been going to the gym in the mornings; even if I hardly work out Jack atleast gets some play time with other kids. I've been taking it pretty easy and trying to do some light cardio, then I sit and drink the free tea that's provided & have a quiet moment. Its been perfect, and Jack really loves going! Other than that, we've been spending our afternoons outside playing which is probably Jack's most favorite thing to do in the whole world. He likes to dig in the dirt and push his bubble mower around. Today I bought him some sidewalk chalk, and I'm sure he'll love that b/c he loves to do art stuff.

My little man all dressed for church!
When we were back home in Lake Charles we spent a day out at my parent's camp, so here are some pics of that little experience...
Playing in the dirt...YEAh!

Riding Paw Paw's lawn mower! As soon as Jack gets on it he starts saying vroom vroom!

Heading to the camp with Susie(my parents dog)!
