Brad played soccer all his life, and I knew when he bought Jack his first pair of shin guards when Jack was less than a year old we’d be spending many days on the soccer fields. Jack finally got to wear those shin guards this fall! We put him in a 3 YR OLD league, and he absolutely LOVES it (thank goodness because I think we would have had one disappointed Daddy!) It’s been so much fun going to soccer practices and games. The weather has been so nice and it’s great being outside!

Camping Adventures
We started the fall off right with a camping trip! Our camping trips are always true adventures, and this time didn’t disappoint us at all.
As soon as we got there Jack wanted to “sleep” in the tent, so he got his blanket and told us all “night night.”
Sleeping didn’t last for long, and before we knew it…it was time to heat up the first gumbo of the season!
Being silly on the hammock…
flashlights & marshmallows…complete heaven for any little boy!
Madeline’s super curls…I couldn’t get enough of them!
Throwing rocks in the river…seriously one of their most favorite things to do!
It rained during the night(and we now know that we need a new tent that doesn’t LEAK) & the raccoons stole all our food, BUT none of those things will stop us from doing this again! We still have such a good time watching the kids have a blast that it was all worth it :)

From Caterpillar to Butterfly!
Yesterday we got our caterpillars in the mail! Jack was ELATED! He’s been waiting and waiting and waiting for them to come! We are so excited to get to watch them go through the process of turning from caterpillar to butterfly!
This was Jack’s precious face all night! He was beyond excited and just tickled to death :)
These caterpillars have been getting A LOT of attention! He begged to bring them to school today, so I let him. His teacher who is such a sweetheart was so welcoming of them :) I sent his book that we’ve been reading about the whole process and she read it to his whole class….SO SWEET! He was so proud to show everyone!
When I was growing up my parents did stuff like this with us…giving me some of the best memories! It’s so much fun to get to do it all with my own kids! Thanks Mom & Dad for making me LOVE nature :)

Corpus Christi to see Daddy!
Brad is finishing up his 2 of 3 “away” months this year. Since I started Jack in school we’ve been making mini trips to see each other on the weekends.
We miss him SOOOO much during the week.
BUT---we make do and happily at that because these are precious days my friends that can’t be spent dwelling on the coulda, woulda, shoulda, wished’as.
While in Corpus we hit the beach on North Padre Island one day, and we HAD A BLAST! The water was beautiful!
Brad trying to help Jack catch some waves!
Just look at that little girl’s face! She loves her Daddy!

Who would have known??
There was a man with a scheduled vasectomy in 2 weeks, and there was a lady who was wondering why certain things smelled a little funny.
There was a little heart beating, and no one knew it. No one expected it. It wasn’t planned here on earth, but turned out to be one of God’s many blessings.
My sweet husband turned 30 years old this weekend, and I always love to hear the story of how he came about…completely unexpectedly…a gift from God!
We celebrated mostly on Saturday with an hourly countdown until the LSU vs Oregon game. I never knew the start of college football season could be so exciting, but it was! Brad was so giddy all day…he & Jack were so silly together! We cooked red beans & rice and had Blondie's with ice cream for dessert and Brad thoroughly enjoyed almost a case of beer as you can see below!
Happy Birthday sweetheart! We are so lucky to have you as our Daddy! We love you so much!
