Things I love…

I am no decorator…I actually dream of decorating things a certain way…try…and can’t get it to look the way I want.  I’m very fickle and easily influenced…so its hard for me to get what I really want.  Lately though I’ve had a strong drive to surround myself with things that I love.  So here and there…I’ve gotten some items that are very special to me….and low and behold…I’ve started to feel surrounded by a home that’s becoming lovely…to me at least :) and that’s what matters right? 

The point of this post is to show you that YOU TOO can find things you love and put them together to be surrounded by a home you love as well. 

I’ve found that when I promise to only buy things I absolutely am in love with I’m happier and my room looks more like I want it to! This means…don’t buy it just because its on sale! Do bargain shop though…TJMAXX, Marshalls, Craigslist…all these places have treasures hidden inside of them. 

I like fresh…fresh, fresh, fresh!!!!! Light blues, white, greens…I’m also having an obsession with birds…they remind me of when I was a little girl…I can still hear them singing in the trees while making mud pies on the side of the  house!

This is the window above my kitchen sink! LOVE this fabric! Green again…oops!

My favorite decoration piece…I change out the fillers for each holiday, and it makes me oh so very happy!

Vases…i just love them!  Both of these were gifts from my best friend…Thanks Ashley!

Check out my newly organized bookshelf in our office! See all those baskets…I’m obsessed! Do notice the walls…they aren’t red anymore! Pictures of my office makeover are coming…I’m not quite finished decorating yet! Me decorating..no way YES WAY!

This was Brad’s birthday present…its makes both of us happy, but I think it still gives him chills when he sees it! It’s going to be hung in the office!

I painted this painting…not sure what the inspiration…bright beautiful colors and three houses…simple huh? Its HOME…where I love to be!

 

Our bathroom…those blue/grey/green walls again….I can’t help it.  The fabric above the window…upholstery tacks & a couple of yards of a fabric YOU love…use your imagination!

My jewelry was always a mess….then I found this…at Marshalls of course…and look it has a bird on it…perfect!

Preschool…at home..for now at least :)

Sometimes being in the house with Jack Attack can make for a long day!  I considered doing a Mother’s Day out this year, but we were going to be out of town ALOT, and I just wasn’t ready to give up any of my time with him just yet!  I figured next year he’d be three and ready to venture out! 

Since he’s so busy…I decided to do a project with him as often as I can manage between all my other household “duties” and taking care of Madeline.  So far its gone pretty well!  Here’s what we’ve been up to!

This week we painted a pumpkin, talked about the color orange, and this weekend we are going to the Pumpkin Patch! I thought it was very interesting how Jack painted on the shapes in the face rather than the whole pumpkin. Just goes to show you how kids aren’t always thinking like we think they are! He loves his name by the way, which we make sure to talk about every time I write it on his work :) 

Our last “theme” I should say was FIRETRUCKS, circles(think wheels on fire trucks), and the color red! I always try to choose something Jack is interested in! I made this color matching game for him…we talked about the colors, and the fire trucks were exciting for him! He really enjoyed matching them together!

Here we read the Very Hungry Caterpillar and made this caterpillar out of circles.  We actually made two b/c he loved it so much!

Here we put together a fire truck(what you see on the yellow paper)…I printed out all the pieces of a fire truck and Jack glued them on the paper then painted the fire truck!  He insisted on painting another fire truck so I printed another picture of one out for him to paint(what you see on the white paper.)

Here he is just painting with the color red!  He loves loves to paint!  I bought this easel at IKEA for $15!!! It works great!

Happy Birthdays…and jealousy

I was trying to take some pictures of Madeline today…it was all going well until my little monster ran up and said, “I want to take a picture…Cheese!” Do you know that I can NEVER get him to look at the camera and say Cheese! Is he jealous? No….I don’t think so!

  

 

My sister and brother just had birthdays…so HAPPY BIRTHDAY you two!  I love ya’ll tons!  I was home for Jennifer’s(sorry John Scott…wish I could have made yours)!  Here are some pics of my lil sis’s…

Camping Trip

I used to say I’d never do “tent” camping with kids…well a couple of weekends ago we went camping..in a tent!  Some of our friends called and asked us to go, and as I started to become hesitant all of my memories of going camping with my Dad when I was a little girl started to flood my mind and there was no way I could say no. 

When I was young during the Fall and Spring my Dad would take us camping.  I remember these trips so well…gathering firewood, finding the perfect spot to hang the lantern, setting up the tent, cooking on the propane stove, gathering firewood, roasting marsh mellows, the cold nights in our tent, running to the bathroom with my sister, going “hiking”, feeding the ducks…the memories I have are abundant..and some of my favorite. 

Our camping trip was SOOOOO much fun!  Jack had plenty of little boys to run around with, and Madeline loved just being outdoors!  The weather was amazing, and the park we went to was beautiful(Guadalupe River State Park.) Everything went so well…I’m already planning our next trip :)

One of the coolest parts about this trip was the boys..I mean men…did ALL the cooking! It was AWESOME!  Below are the GIANT marsh mellows we roasted!

Fire truck…Fire truck!

“Fire truck..Fire truck! I wanna ride on a fire truck…”  If you don’t know what song I’m talking about and you have a little boy you MUST play this video!!!! Jack LOVES it and almost knows all the words..and for Halloween…well we will have a fireman in the Bawcom household for the night :)

While in Lake Charles we took Jack to a park where they have a fire truck.  He had so much fun playing on it.  Madeline had fun watching…one day sweet Madeline..one day you’ll get to run and play!

All About Madeline

 

Miss Madeline will be 6 months tomorrow and I can’t stand it! She’s growing up waaaayyyy too fast! She starting sitting up last week, and she is such a wonderful baby.  Here she is loving her new Mikimoto Pearls(we’ll let her think that anyway).  She is starting to become more open to that mushy stuff we call food, but she still has NO interest in a bottle allowing me no time away from her…but that’s okay.  Sooner or later she’ll be “leaving on a jet plane”, so I’ll take my next few months with sweet Madeline at my side 24/7.

Jack is starting to love her more.  He asks to hold her, loves to hold her hand, & laughs at all the funny things she does.  She loves him and is all eyes when he’s talking or playing with her.
